Astor Club, an esteemed private establishment in Chicago, is in search of a talented Chef de Partie to enhance our culinary brigade. The successful candidate will operate under the guidance of management, ensuring exceptional food preparation and service for our distinguished members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out daily culinary tasks and adhere strictly to recipes.
  • Uphold food quality by working closely with back-of-house staff; all dishes must receive chef approval prior to serving.
  • Oversee inventory management and procure supplies for your designated station.
  • Assist and mentor junior cooks with food preparation, including staff meals.
  • Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) practices and comply with health department standards.
  • Facilitate effective communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
  • Stay informed on culinary trends and maintain safety protocols.
  • Promptly report maintenance concerns and foster a positive work atmosphere.
  • Support the Banquet Chef and manage stations in their absence.
  • Accurately and efficiently prepare and plate dishes.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a comparable role.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, chef-led environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills, adaptability, and the ability to maintain focus under pressure.
  • Punctuality and compliance with uniform standards.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and lift a minimum of 35 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ServeSafe Certification and allergen awareness training.
  • Proficient knife handling skills.
  • Culinary education or apprenticeship experience.
