Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Branch Manager, the Mortgage Loan Assistant collaborates with designated Loan Officers in a dynamic work environment. This role is essential in facilitating the loan origination process while also managing various administrative responsibilities. Tasks are executed with precision and within set timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely progression of files through processing and closing stages.
  • Schedule appointments with clients effectively.
  • Gather required documentation and verify for accuracy and completeness.
  • Make copies of critical documents as needed.
  • Oversee file and communication flow to promptly address client inquiries and concerns.
  • Keep clients updated on the status of their loan applications.
  • Prepare files meticulously for submission to processing.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to customer service and client retention.
  • Stay informed about the daily schedule of the assigned Loan Officer.
  • Systematically organize and maintain client data and files.
  • Collaborate closely with the processing team to secure necessary documentation for loan approval and funding.
  • As directed by the Loan Officer, obtain and review applicants' credit histories from third-party vendors.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Loan Originator, adhering to all guidelines.

Prohibited Activities

Mortgage Loan Assistants without a valid mortgage loan originator's license are prohibited from engaging in the following activities:

  • Participating in any activity requiring a mortgage loan originator license.
  • Taking loan applications directly or indirectly.
  • Negotiating any mortgage loan terms with prospective applicants.
  • Discussing loan terms, features, or costs with potential borrowers.
  • Signing any loan-related documentation.
  • Soliciting loan applications in any form.
  • Discussing loan programs or products with potential applicants.
  • Representing oneself as a mortgage loan originator.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.

Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of using office equipment.
  • Preferred: At least two years of experience in the lending industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Quick and effective learner.
  • Excellent listening capabilities.
  • General understanding of loan products and processes.
  • Ability to make rapid decisions.
  • Aptitude for thriving in a fast-paced work environment.
