Registered Nurse Med/Surg FT Days

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care that is guided by the American Nurses Association (ANA) scope of practice. This role involves collaborating with patients, family/significant others, peers, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the delivery of healthcare services to patients.
The Registered Nurse assesses the patient's needs, care plans, implements, and evaluates the medical and nursing regimens in accordance with the hospital and nursing philosophy, policies/procedures, and standards. This role requires leadership skills and commitment to professional accountability and growth.
Education and Experience Requirements- Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's Level Degree (required) or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Current and unobstructed New York State Registered Nurse (NY Hospitals)
- Current and unobstructed Connecticut Registered Nurse License (CT Hospitals)
- New graduates awaiting licensure at the discretion of the Chief Nursing Officer (CT only)
- American Nurses Association endorsed Certifications or Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses Certification Preferred (*Based on Certification specialty hours of work requirement).
The Registered Nurse is required to complete various training programs, including:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required upon hire
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - Required by end of orientation period (for specific units)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required by end of orientation period (for specific units)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required by end of orientation period (for specific units)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Within 1 year of hire
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Within 1 year of hire (for specific units)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Within 1 year of hire (for specific units)
- TCAR (Trauma Care and Resuscitation) - Within 1 year of hire (for specific units)
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) - Within 1 year of hire (for specific units)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or other de-escalation technique training - Within 6 months of hire (for specific units)
- S.T.A.B.L.E (Safe, Therapeutic, And Loving Environment) - Within 6 months of hire (for specific units)
The Registered Nurse works in a fast-paced environment with significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity. The role involves significant occupational risk and requires the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. force. The Registered Nurse is also exposed to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
