Position Overview

General Summary:

The Human Resources Director is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of HR operations in alignment with organizational policies and programs. This role involves recruiting, interviewing, and selecting candidates for open positions, as well as facilitating new employee orientation and training initiatives. The Director will ensure the maintenance of accurate employee records and benefit documentation, while also providing ongoing education regarding employee benefits. Acting as a liaison between vendors and staff, this position will advise employees on eligibility and coverage matters. Additionally, the Director will manage payroll processes, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily HR operations in accordance with established policies and programs.
  • Stay informed about applicable laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels related to employment.
  • Support employees in understanding HR policies and practices; provide counseling on job-related issues and conduct training for staff.
  • Identify and address recruitment challenges effectively.
  • Attract and secure top talent across various departments.
  • Analyze compensation and benefits packages based on market research.
  • Screen and evaluate candidates, providing recommendations for managerial interviews and conducting reference checks.
  • Assist managers in formulating relevant interview questions tailored to job requirements.
  • Process necessary paperwork for new hires and manage onboarding procedures.
  • Coordinate enrollment periods and manage documentation for all benefit programs.
  • Develop and update job descriptions annually to reflect current job responsibilities.
  • Maintain personnel files in compliance with legal standards and confidentiality requirements.
  • Investigate employee grievances and support management in disciplinary actions.
  • Prepare termination documentation and oversee the exit process for departing employees.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate payroll documentation and work with external payroll vendors.
  • Oversee the administration of relevant licensing and regulatory requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture of service excellence and effectively communicate the benefits of products and services to members.
  • Develop an understanding of competitor offerings and seek to enhance service quality.
  • Participate in required training programs relevant to this position.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions related to credit union activities.
  • Assist in various areas as directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead and coach effectively.
  • Proficiency in various computer software applications.

Education: A bachelor's degree is preferred, along with 4-5 years of experience in Human Resources, or a master's degree in HR management with 2-3 years of relevant experience.
