Job Summary:
You will report directly to the Plant Manager and will ensure the efficient and effective management of repair operations in accordance with company standards, industry regulations, and best practices. You will oversee Area Managers and Supervisors assigned to various areas across all shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise repair operations via effective coordination of your direct reports.
- Maintain the production schedule for completing repairs.
- Drive performance metrics and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Assist the Plant Manager in the preparation of shop budget and financial reports.
- Monitor productivity, safety, and quality of work in each area.
- Train new supervisors and provide guidance on industry best practices.
- Perform annual evaluations of your direct reports and provide feedback for improvement.
- Organize and conduct safety training and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Assist in the preparation of accident reports and incident investigations.
- Supervise the taking of physical inventory and ensure accurate tracking of assets.
- Assign vacation schedules and provide coverage for the Plant Manager duties when necessary.
Requirements:
- Able to legally work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship.
- 5 years of experience in tank car/rail car production leadership, along with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Flexible to working different shifts, including weekends.
- Computer aptitude and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willing and able to wear safety equipment and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, enter tank cars, and work in confined spaces.
- Visual acuity for safety and knowledge of industry regulations.
- AAR, FRA, and DOT knowledge, as well as safety practices, welding, and metal fabrication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
