Role Overview

Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering division is looking for an Associate Manufacturing Process Engineer (T1) or a Manufacturing Process Engineer (T2) to enhance the Bonding Operations sector within the Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) cell.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Development: Innovate and refine manufacturing processes with an emphasis on cost-effectiveness.
  • Process Monitoring: Establish methods for monitoring processes utilizing both existing and novel interfaces.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with diverse teams to generate new data, software, and database solutions to meet current and future manufacturing demands.
  • ROI Justification: Provide justifications for process enhancements based on return on investment.
  • Equipment Procurement: Identify and acquire new manufacturing equipment, ensuring readiness for production with a focus on machine integration and data collection.
  • Process Optimization: Develop and refine process parameters, documentation, and work instructions.

Factory Support:

  • Assist in optimizing process monitoring to enhance yields, reduce costs, and improve process stability.
  • Collaborate with floor personnel to troubleshoot technical challenges, particularly in IT and human/machine interfaces.
  • Recommend and implement quality enhancements based on performance metrics.
  • Create and maintain automated equipment programs.
  • Support the training of new staff and contribute to the development of operator training materials.
  • Assist maintenance teams in troubleshooting and repairing process equipment.
  • Engage with equipment vendors to resolve issues.

Design Support:

  • Advise on product design improvements necessary for advanced microelectronics production.
  • Document cutting-edge process capabilities and guidelines for product designers.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability of new products.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for Associate Manufacturing Process Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Minimum of 3 months relevant post-Bachelor's experience (or none with a Master's degree).
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience (academic experience may be considered).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Basic Qualifications for Manufacturing Process Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience (or none with a Master's degree).
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience (academic experience may be considered).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of microelectronics technologies and materials.
  • Experience with bonding materials and processes.
  • Understanding of J-STD and MIL-STD requirements and Space Class hardware standards.
