About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patients through our healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality interviews with patients to ensure compliance with patient safety rules and state and federal regulations.
  • Gather and verify patient demographics to validate patient identity.
  • Conduct intensive screening of Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care patients to identify network status and coordination of benefits.
  • Obtain patient consents and attestations as required.
  • Perform job-related functions, including facility-based scheduling, bed planning, pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, pre-certification, point-of-service cash collection, and financial clearance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of patient information, including diagnosis data and medical necessity criteria.
  • Comply with federal and state requirements, including obtaining patient signatures on required regulatory and consent forms.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive patient experience.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in a hospital setting, with prior registration and insurance verification experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge and proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
  • Ability to work every other weekend and three out of six holidays, with rotating schedules and shifts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a hospital setting.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient medical terminology knowledge and knowledge of insurance specifications, ICD10, and CPT4 codes.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Korean) and experience with EPIC HB, Cadence, and Prelude.
