Business Operations Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Operations Assistant to join our team at the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Head of Operations and assisting with the day-to-day management of budgetary, financial, personnel, and administrative functions for our college.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide financial accountability and ensure compliance with State and university guidelines by functioning as certifying signature authority.
- Manage the monthly reconciliation of accounts and generate monthly financial and budget reports for departments and centers.
- Administer personnel and payroll activities, including reconciliation of payroll records and salary reallocation process.
- Assist department staff with personnel issues and maintain personnel files.
- Participate in the development of the annual budgets.
- Train and provide guidance to departmental staff regarding the use of university forms and the application of university and college policies and procedures.
- Supervise support staff and student workers as assigned in the central business office and/or Dean's Office.
- Develop and maintain informational databases for the college.
- Represent the college on behalf of the Business Administrator as required.
Requirements
A bachelor's degree and three years of experience in a related field are required. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical, or professional discipline.
