Role Overview

The Surgical Appointment Coordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience by efficiently and professionally organizing inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures. This position is integral to ensuring that all patients receive the exceptional service that aligns with the values of Thomas Jefferson University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with colleagues, visitors, and other personnel in a manner that reflects the core values of the institution.
  • Gather and assess patient insurance details, including securing prior authorizations and referral information, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained before the scheduled surgical intervention.
  • Conduct pre-procedure outreach to patients, confirming appointment times and addressing any inquiries.
  • Provide patients with comprehensive pre-operative guidelines to prepare them for their procedures.
  • Uphold HIPAA privacy and security regulations, ensuring adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local compliance standards.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in customer service or patient-facing roles within healthcare is preferred.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive experience for all patients and visitors.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manage data effectively.
  • Capability to multitask while handling a time-sensitive workload.
