Job Description

STATEMENT OF JOB:

The Food Service/Prep Aide plays a vital role in ensuring the highest quality of food service and dining experience for our residents. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting the cook in the preparation and presentation of food, maintaining the cleanliness of the dishwashing area, and supporting other areas of the dining operation as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food items as requested, adhering to our high standards of quality and presentation
  • Portion and plate salads and desserts with attention to detail and a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Assist with cleaning of the kitchen, including floors, and kitchen equipment, maintaining a safe and healthy environment
  • Set up and run the dishwashing operation, ensuring the dishwasher is clean and free of debris, and clean pots and pans as needed
  • Check water temperatures and maintain sanitation equipment, upholding our commitment to food safety
  • Take out all garbage, contributing to a clean and organized workspace
  • Assist with dining room service as needed, providing excellent customer service and pouring beverages with a smile
  • Replace paper towels and clean the hand sink, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment
  • Stock food on shelves and in the refrigerator, ensuring that our residents have access to a wide range of options
  • Report problems in the kitchen or dining room to your supervisor, ensuring that issues are addressed promptly and efficiently
  • Attend all required in-service and staff meetings, staying up-to-date on the latest developments and best practices
  • Provide superior customer service to our residents, exceeding their expectations and building strong relationships

    Requirements:

    • Good organizational skills and the ability to work well with others as part of a team
    • Must be able to work under close supervision, taking direction and feedback to improve performance
    • Possess basic knowledge of kitchen operation and use of kitchen equipment, with a willingness to learn and grow
    • Must be able to understand and retain simple instructions and apply them to the position, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
    • Must be able to stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods of time, with the ability to lift 50 lbs and carry heavy objects for up to 20 feet
    • Must be able to tolerate temperature extremes, wet/humid conditions, and noise, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
    • Must wear slip-resistant footwear, prioritizing safety and preventing accidents
    • Must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays, demonstrating a commitment to meeting the needs of our residents
