POSITION SUMMARY:

In alignment with the mission of the Diocese of Phoenix Catholic Schools, this role, under the guidance of the Facilities Director, is tasked with overseeing the maintenance operations of the educational institution. The individual will execute skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks, necessitating expertise in carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical work. Responsibilities also include ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the school premises and surrounding areas, along with performing related duties as necessary.

The Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting the Church and school in their mission of community engagement and spiritual development. By exemplifying the values of the Catholic faith, the Supervisor contributes to the nurturing of a positive school culture, acting as a mentor and spiritual guide for students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan, oversee, and manage the activities of maintenance, grounds, and custodial staff.
  • Ensure the operational readiness of campus vehicles and maintenance equipment.
  • Monitor and assess the maintenance status of essential campus systems, including elevators, fire safety, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other equipment.
  • Coordinate logistics for campus events, including setup, teardown, and cleanup.
  • Manage daily operations related to campus activities.
  • Oversee procurement of maintenance supplies and repairs.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Director to formulate proactive strategies for facility management and enhancement.
  • Establish timelines and expectations for various projects.
Additional tasks may be assigned as deemed necessary by the administration.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficient knowledge in maintenance practices, plumbing, electrical work, painting, landscaping, and mechanical repairs.
  • Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks as required.
  • Experience in supervising and training maintenance personnel.
  • Capability to assist in budget management for maintenance operations.
  • Availability for emergency situations as they arise.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with staff, students, and the community.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands outlined are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully fulfill the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands for various tasks, reach with arms, and communicate effectively. Regular lifting and moving of items up to 75 pounds is expected. The role may require standing outdoors in varying weather conditions and working during evenings or weekends as necessary.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION:

The performance of this position will be assessed according to the evaluation procedures established by the Diocese of Phoenix and the educational institution's administration.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:

This is a full-time, salaried position with a twelve-month contract. Compensation and responsibilities are determined by the Executive Committee in accordance with the Diocese of Phoenix guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Preference for candidates who are practicing Catholics, though individuals of other faiths are encouraged to apply.
  • Commitment to supporting Catholic teachings and values.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in facilities management or a related field.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience.
  • Completion of Safe Environment Training and adherence to the Code of Conduct.
