Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Van Technician to join our team at Mercedes-Benz of San Francisco. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining diesel and gasoline engine industrial trucks according to dealership and factory specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
  • Parts Management: Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Quality Control: Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communication: Communicate with service advisors/dispatchers immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Documentation: Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Testing: Road test vehicles when required.
  • Training and Development: Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Tool Management: Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
  • Safety and Compliance: Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Shop Maintenance: Keep the shop area neat and clean.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 1-3 years working with European vehicles.
  • Teamwork: Works with fellow coworkers with a positive and team-oriented attitude.
  • Safety: Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Prioritization: Ability to prioritize job duties to meet deadlines.
  • Background Check: Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
