The City of Falls Church is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Director of Public Works. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a seasoned professional with a passion for innovative infrastructure projects and a commitment to driving positive change in a rapidly growing community.



The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering, construction management, public administration, or a related field, along with a proven history of progressively responsible experience in public works or a related field, including at least five years in a supervisory role. A registered Professional Engineer in Virginia is preferred but not required.

The Director will lead and influence the direction of infrastructure and development projects, fostering a collaborative and motivated team that adapts quickly to challenges.

The starting salary for this position will be $175,000 - $220,000, based on the background and qualifications of the successful candidate.

Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering, construction management, public administration, or a related field

  • At least five years of experience in public works or a related field, including at least two years in a supervisory role

  • Proven track record of leading innovative infrastructure projects and driving positive change in a community

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
