Job Summary:
As an Audiologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with hearing, balance, and related disorders. This role requires a strong understanding of audiology principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients' audiologic function, interpret findings, and review test results with patients or responsible adults.
  • Document patients' case history, test results, and recommendations for follow-up in the medical record and report results and recommendations to referring physicians and/or primary care physicians.
  • Counsel patients about treatment options for hearing loss and refer patients to the ear, nose, and throat department for consultation when appropriate.
  • Educate patients about hearing conservation and vestibular rehabilitation exercises.
  • Perform and interpret electro physiologic and special tests of the peripheral and central auditory system.
  • Evaluate hearing status of infants and young children with an appropriate comprehensive battery of tests.
  • Counsel patients regarding hearing aid device options and evaluate patients' hearing aids when appropriate.
  • Additional specialized duties may include programming and fitting implantable devices, such as cochlear implants, bone-anchored hearing aids, and similar devices.

Requirements:
  • Au.D. degree or equivalent experience.
  • Current employees: Masters degree and a minimum of four years of experience in audiology required or an Au.D.
  • New hires: Au.D. degree.
  • National Provider Identifier and Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
  • PECOS Enrollment within three months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum one year of experience in vestibular testing (videonystagmography or electronystagmography).
  • Minimum one year of experience in behavioral pediatric assessment (infants and toddlers).
  • Minimum one year of experience in Auditory Evoked Potential testing (all ages).

Work Environment:
This role requires working in a fast-paced medical environment with frequent interactions with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The Audiologist will be required to work independently and as part of a team to provide high-quality patient care. The work environment is dynamic and requires adaptability and flexibility.
