About the Position

Claflin University is seeking a highly qualified Instructor/Assistant Professor of Mass Communications to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of courses in public relations, including PR writing, PR management, and social media applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach skills courses in public relations, including PR writing, PR management, and social media applications.
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of students in the mass communications department.
  • Advise the PRSSA chapter and lead the public relations concentration.
  • Participate in departmental recruitment activities, promoting the department within the state and nationally.
  • Contribute to committee service, grantsmanship, and research obligations consistent with all faculty appointments.
Qualifications
  • Masters degree in communications related to Public Relations or a related field.
  • Completed doctorate required for a tenure track appointment and the rank of Assistant Professor. ABD will be considered.
  • APR certification required.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
