Job Title: GIS Administrator

Join the Department of Public Utilities/City of Orangeburg team as a GIS Administrator, responsible for administering Geographic Information System (GIS) and related databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain GIS databases, servers, and applications.
  • Provide short, middle, and long-range planning and technical support for custom applications and packaged software products.
  • Organize and evaluate geospatial data, ensuring its accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Process documentation associated with department/division operations, adhering to established procedures.
  • Communicate with DPU Division Directors, supervisors, employees, clients, and other stakeholders as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Information Engineering, cartography, planning, engineering, or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in administering, creating, and maintaining GIS databases, servers, and applications.
  • Valid South Carolina Driver's License and Geographic Information Systems Professional Certification (GISP) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL databases and ESRI software, with a fundamental understanding of object-oriented programming.
