Job Summary

The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting ongoing research initiatives in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, with a wide range of focus areas including keloid biology, burn wound healing, and muscular dystrophies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support research initiatives in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • Conduct laboratory work, including cellular models, sequencing of patient and animal samples, and analysis of therapeutic compounds
  • Work closely with the research team to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory
  • Participate in experimental procedures and contribute to the development of new research projects
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in science or a related field
  • 2 or more years of experience in a laboratory setting
  • Experience with cellular models, processing samples, sequencing, animal models, heart function, and muscle physiology
  • Experience working independently in a laboratory setting
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cell culture, PCR, and protein analysis
  • Experience with a team science approach
  • Experience with IACUC submissions
