Biotechnology Production Specialist I

Position Overview: The Manufacturing Technician I role encompasses a variety of responsibilities across different technological units, which may include:
Upstream Processing:
- Utilization of Single-Use Cell Culture Vessels/Bioreactors up to 2000L
- Management of Bacterial Fermentation Culture Vessels up to 2000L
- Operation of Continuous Flow Centrifuges
- Handling of Disposable Magnetic Mixing Systems
- Cell Expansion and Propagation Techniques
- Banking and Cryopreservation of Cell Lines and Viruses
- Application of Adherent Cell Technologies
- Conducting Plate Counting and Microscopic Analysis
- Monitoring cultures, sampling, and managing bioreactor and fermenter operations
Downstream Processing:
- Filtration systems including Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) and depth filtration
- Chromatographic systems management
- Utilization of Pre-Packed Columns
- Operation of Single Use Mixing Systems
- Execution of Bulk Filling Processes
- Aseptic Process Simulations
- Conducting Plate Counting and Microscopic Analysis
Buffer Preparation:
- Preparation of media and buffers from raw materials, including compounding and filtration
- Weighing of raw materials in accordance with batch specifications
- Integrity testing of filtration systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and reviewing standard operating procedures and production records.
- Assisting senior personnel in implementing safety and quality assurance protocols.
- Maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Documenting activities in compliance with cGMP regulations.
- Operating various production equipment and maintaining cleanliness in the laboratory.
- Fostering effective working relationships with colleagues.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to varying schedules.
- Experience in a cleanroom environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods, perform manual tasks, and lift weights as necessary. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
