About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solar Project Manager to join our team at the Walbec Group. As a key member of our construction and engineering team, you will be responsible for managing solar construction projects from pre-construction to project closeout, ensuring timely and profitable delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage solar construction projects of various sizes and complexities, utilizing company processes and procedures to meet or exceed planned profits.
  • Develop and implement project schedules, financial reports, and budget management plans, ensuring effective project communications and contract administration.
  • Oversee all financial aspects of projects, including budget management, financial reporting, and cost control.
  • Collaborate with clients and subcontractors to identify and address project issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing delays.
  • Provide conceptual information and presentations to stakeholders, illustrating project ideas and concepts.
  • Facilitate and lead productive meetings, ensuring effective communication and decision-making.
  • Prepare and manage project baseline schedules, schedule updates, and financial budget vs. actuals tracking, ensuring timely identification and mitigation of project impacts and delays.
  • Conduct field productivity tracking, estimate vs. actual, and course correction to protect labor budget and project profit.
  • Ensure project safety ownership, including weekly audits, incident investigation, and reporting, contributing positively to the company's safety culture.
  • Identify project impacts and delays, notify stakeholders per contract documents, and prepare detailed documentation for claims.
  • Solve complex project problems, understand root causes, develop solutions, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Travel overnight 3-4 days per week throughout the Midwest, as required, to manage projects and collaborate with team members.
Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience in the solar industry, with a strong background in project management, construction, and engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or an applicable equivalent training/experience, with a preference for Geotechnical experience.
  • Robust knowledge of electrical systems, specifically PV/DC systems, and estimating takeoff capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with expertise in Excel.
  • Effective and professional communication, oral and written, with the ability to make time-sensitive decisions in complex situations.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented, with a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
