This role is a direct hire opportunity and is crucial for driving leadership within the Global Operations Engineering team. The position requires extensive collaboration across multiple disciplines, including Microfluidics, Supply Chain Management, New Product Development, Product Service and Support, and Instrument Lifecycle Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team dedicated to the transition of intricate plastic consumables into volume manufacturing, focusing on LSR-thermoplastic assemblies and precision molded microfluidics components.
- Enhance existing products to ensure reliability, yield, vendor quality, and continuity of supply.
- Manage the transfer of new components to suppliers, employing techniques such as compounding and molding of various thermoplastics and elastomers.
- Build and mentor a diverse team of engineers and technicians.
- Coordinate projects aimed at reducing costs and improving product yield, facilitating the smooth transition of new designs to established manufacturers.
- Identify and implement opportunities for supplier quality enhancement and internal system improvements, utilizing Six Sigma and Lean methodologies for continuous improvement.
- Effectively manage product lifecycle and manufacturing processes using Arena PLM and Oracle ERP systems.
- Conduct supplier visits to perform quality audits and assess new vendor capabilities.
- Ensure effective collaboration with microfluidics and pNPI teams.
- Act decisively across the organization to build consensus and swiftly address field issues.
- Lead the team in achieving both short-term and long-term objectives for new product launches.
- Develop and promote strategies for plastics development that align with R&D and manufacturing requirements.
- Foster innovation and continuous improvement in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Plastics, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in biotechnology or life science engineering or manufacturing.
- Proficient in structured problem-solving methods and capable of leveraging large data sets for decision-making.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean methodologies; certification as a Six Sigma Green/Black Belt is preferred.
- Experience with Arena PLM and Oracle ERP systems.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
