Medical Assistant, Float, New Orleans East

We're seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in New Orleans East. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our Physician-led Care Teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Measuring and recording patient vital signs
- Recording patient interview and medical history
- Preparing patients for examinations and performing routine screening tests
- Assisting physicians with exams and explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Observing patients and reporting any changes in patient conditions to physicians
- Performing non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures under physician supervision
- Maintaining supplies, equipment, and stocks, and sterilizing instruments
- Practicing OSHA safety standards and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation
- Processing patient phone messages and returning calls to other team members
- Calling patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for physicians
- Providing health coaching to patients to support healthy lifestyle choices
- High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required
- Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training required
- A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or similar in a hospital, medical clinic, or comparable environment required
- Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus
- EMR system experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment
