Educational Support Specialist

The role of an Educational Support Specialist is to assist students in both instructional and non-instructional tasks, enhancing the overall educational experience. These specialists operate under the guidance of certified educators and play a vital role in helping students achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate self-sufficiency training and skill development for students with physical challenges
  • Provide personal care assistance to ensure students can engage fully in their educational activities
  • Support students with daily living tasks to promote their comfort and well-being
  • Help establish a supportive environment that addresses students' physical and emotional needs
  • Monitor the health and social adjustment of students with medical conditions
  • Collaborate with educators to enhance the classroom setting for the benefit of students
  • Engage in training sessions and meetings as necessary
  • Comply with school district regulations and protocols
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma is required; an Associate's Degree is preferred
  • Must possess clearances including Pennsylvania State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI Fingerprinting
  • Completion of School Health Form and Tuberculosis Test
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Form 6004 is necessary
  • Must have completed Continuing Education Hours and Act 126 training
