Job Summary

Under the direction of the Radiology Supervisor, the Diagnostic Radiographer will perform diagnostic x-rays following departmental protocols, ALARA and service behavior standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine diagnostic procedures utilizing knowledge of radiation/imaging scientific principles, technical skills and well-developed problem-solving capabilities
  • Receive and review requests for radiologic studies
  • Interview patients and review available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure
  • Properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield
  • Operate highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonably achievable) standards
  • Maintain radiographic equipment and x-ray rooms in proper working condition
  • Report malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisor
  • Follow the clinic exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved radiological program
  • Experience in radiology imaging modalities is preferred
  • Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists AART(R)
  • Current state permit/license as general diagnostic radiographer and CPR Certification is required
