Job Description

Bonus eligibility up to $25,000 annually

Summary:

Under the direction of the Radiology Supervisor, performs diagnostic x-rays following departmental protocols, ALARA, and service behavior standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs routine diagnostic procedures utilizing knowledge of radiation/imaging scientific principles, technical skills, and well-developed problem-solving capabilities
  • Receives and reviews requests for radiologic studies
  • Explains and prepares the patient for all radiographic procedures
  • Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure
  • Properly and safely positions the patient for maximum diagnostic yield
  • Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonably achievable) standards
  • Maintains radiographic equipment and x-ray rooms in proper working condition
  • Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisor
  • Follows the clinic exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens
  • May be required by their manager/lead to perform other duties which may be necessary or desirable

PACS

  • Enters appropriate information into PACS and makes sure the study is ready to be dictated before submitting to the radiologist

Education and/or Experience:

Graduate of an approved radiological program. Experience in radiology imaging modalities is preferred.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent technical skills, pursues training and development opportunities. Understanding technique and patient positioning to obtain the best images possible. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiologic equipment, safety hazards related to radiology, and aseptic techniques. Skill in troubleshooting equipment

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists AART(R). Current state permit/license as general diagnostic radiographer and CPR Certification is required.
