Special Education Assistant

Seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Special Education Assistant to join our team at Alief ISD. As a key member of our instructional support team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with disabilities and enhancing their educational experience.
**Responsibilities and Duties:**
• Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans for students with disabilities.
• Engage students in instructional activities and help them master assigned materials.
• Perform clerical duties, such as recording attendance, reproducing instructional materials, and creating bulletin boards.
• Assist in modifying instructional materials and administering achievement tests.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and collect data related to IEP objectives.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical behavior standards.
• Participate in training and provide explicit instruction to small groups of students using a lesson plan designed by the teacher.
• Support classroom teachers in maintaining a positive learning environment and student discipline.
• Perform medically related services, such as tube-feeding, suctioning, and CPR, as assigned per students' needs.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
**Requirements and Qualifications:**
• High School graduate or equivalent (GED) and eligible for paraprofessional certification.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
• Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve lifting, bending, and standing for prolonged periods.
