JOB SUMMARY


Responsible for managing social and local corporate catering opportunities that exceed the scope of the Group Sales teams within the Sales Office and are directed to the property. This includes handling events with a capacity of 150 guests or more.

Secures and finalizes local catering and social business while ensuring a smooth transition for quality service delivery.

Achieves catering revenue targets by proactively promoting each business opportunity to maximize income.

Implements the brand's service strategy and relevant brand initiatives throughout the sales process, fostering customer loyalty through exceptional service.


CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience

Required:
  • High school diploma or GED; 2 years of experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or a related field.
OR

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field; no prior work experience required.

Preferred:
  • Experience in catering sales.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Managing Sales Activities

  • Manages local corporate and social catering sales efforts for the property.
  • Responds to incoming catering inquiries and identifies new business opportunities to meet personal and property revenue goals.
  • Solicits business related to citywide events from an approved affiliate list.
  • Understands market dynamics, including competitors' strengths and weaknesses, and effectively sells against them.
  • Closes advantageous opportunities based on market conditions and property requirements.
  • Utilizes negotiation skills and creative selling techniques to finalize contracts.
  • Collaborates with management to create and implement a catering sales strategy focused on revenue, clientele, and market trends.
  • Designs and promotes innovative catered events.
  • Maximizes revenue through upselling packages and unique food and beverage options.
  • Oversees catering sales revenue and operational budgets, providing forecasting reports.
  • Develops sales-driven menus.
  • Assists in the promotion and execution of catering initiatives.
  • Upholds Marriott's Customer Service Standards and the property's Brand Standards.
  • Ensures seamless transitions from sales to operations while consistently delivering high-quality service.
  • Monitors and resolves guest issues arising from the sales process by establishing effective communication channels with property leadership.
  • Evaluates performance by increasing revenues, managing expenses, and ensuring a return on investment.
Building Successful Relationships

  • Collaborates with off-property sales channels to ensure coordinated and complementary sales efforts.
  • Engages effectively with sales teams, kitchen staff, vendors, local community, catering associations, and other hotel departments to maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Provides exemplary customer service to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Understands customer needs and recommends appropriate services to exceed expectations while fostering loyalty.
  • Develops a close working relationship with operations to implement strategies effectively.
