Medical Assistant for Wound Care Clinic

As a Medical Assistant, you will collaborate within a team to enhance the patient care experience with empathy and respect. Your role will involve assisting licensed professionals and providers in delivering an exceptional patient experience by effectively addressing patient needs. You will facilitate smooth clinic operations and maintain clear and positive communication with team members. Medical Assistants operate under the guidance of the physician and/or provider, with clinical supervision provided by the RN Supervisor, Lead Nurse, and/or Clinical Director of Nursing.
The Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine clinic is currently seeking a friendly and driven Medical Assistant for our facility.
Position Summary & Key Responsibilities- In the Wound clinic, you will be part of a collaborative care team consisting of various providers, MAs, RNs, and administrative staff.
- At Saint Alphonsus, we adopt a thorough and tailored approach to each patient's treatment, recognizing that most chronic wounds with non-healing characteristics involve complex factors. We work alongside our patients to identify, manage, and treat any underlying health issues, facilitating quicker and more complete healing.
- We assist patients with wounds stemming from poor circulation due to diabetes, severe burns, or peripheral vascular conditions, as even minor injuries can lead to serious infections requiring advanced wound care interventions.
- The Saint Alphonsus Advanced Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine program also offers Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for patients with non-healing or intricate wounds and other conditions that benefit from pressurized oxygen treatment. Our program utilizes advanced Sechrist Monoplace Hyperbaric Chambers.
- At Saint Alphonsus, we focus on treating the whole individual with a personalized plan that significantly accelerates wound healing.
- Wound care is ideal for those eager to learn, engaging directly with wound management and minor procedures, while closely collaborating with providers during patient consultations.
- This role will not involve vaccinations, injections, or extensive phlebotomy at this time.
- Some wounds may present extreme appearances and odors, so candidates should be comfortable encountering such cases regularly.
- An ideal candidate is someone with a strong desire to learn, a commitment to teamwork, and a high level of reliability.
- 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.
- Primarily based in Nampa, with occasional coverage at other clinics as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- *MA certification is required within 90 days of eligibility to take a national certification exam from one of the following approved agencies:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
- American Medical Technologists (RMA)
- National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
- American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
- Completion of either 6 months of MA experience or a 100-hour MA externship is required, even with MA certification.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
- *Obtaining the MA certification typically necessitates completing an MA Program or having at least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant. EMT or CNA certifications do not count towards MA certification.
