As a Medical Assistant, you will collaborate within a team to foster a positive patient care experience characterized by empathy and respect. Your role will involve assisting licensed professionals and providers in delivering an outstanding patient experience by effectively addressing patient needs. You will facilitate smooth clinic operations and maintain clear and positive communication with team members. Medical Assistants operate under the guidance of the physician and/or provider, with clinical oversight from the RN Supervisor, Lead Nurse, and/or Clinical Director of Nursing.

The Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine clinic is currently seeking a personable and driven Medical Assistant for our facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • In the Wound clinic, you will engage in a collaborative care environment alongside various providers, MAs, RNs, and administrative staff.
  • At Saint Alphonsus, we adopt a thorough and individualized approach to each patient's treatment plan, recognizing that many chronic wounds involve complex issues. We partner with our patients to identify, manage, and treat any underlying health conditions to enhance their healing process.
  • We assist patients with wounds related to poor circulation due to diabetes, severe burns, or peripheral vascular disease, as even minor injuries can lead to serious infections necessitating advanced wound care therapies.
  • The Saint Alphonsus Advanced Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine program specializes in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for patients with non-healing or complex wounds and other conditions that benefit from pressurized oxygen treatment. Our program utilizes advanced Sechrist Monoplace Hyperbaric Chambers.
  • At Saint Alphonsus, we focus on treating the whole individual with a personalized plan that significantly accelerates wound healing.
What You Will Do:
  • Engage in wound care for those eager to learn, performing hands-on tasks with wound management and minor procedures, closely collaborating with providers during patient appointments.
  • This role will not involve vaccinations, injections, or extensive phlebotomy at this time.
  • Some wounds may appear extreme and have strong odors, so candidates should be comfortable with this aspect of the work.
  • An ideal candidate is someone motivated to learn, thrives in a strong team environment, and demonstrates reliability.
Work Schedule:
  • 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
  • This position will primarily be based in Nampa, with occasional coverage at other clinics as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • *MA certification is required within 90 days of eligibility to take a national certification exam from one of the following approved agencies:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
    • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
    • National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
    • American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
  • Completion of either 6 months of MA experience or a 100-hour MA externship is required, even with MA certification.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
  • *Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. EMT or CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.
