As a Medical Assistant, you will collaborate within a team to ensure a positive patient care experience characterized by empathy and respect. Your role will involve assisting licensed personnel and providers in delivering exceptional patient care by effectively addressing patient needs. You will facilitate smooth clinic operations and maintain clear and positive communication with team members. Medical Assistants operate under the guidance of the physician and/or provider, with clinical oversight from the RN Supervisor, Lead Nurse, and/or Clinical Director of Nursing.

The Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine clinic is currently seeking a friendly and driven Medical Assistant for our facility.

Position Summary & Highlights
  • As a Medical Assistant in the Wound clinic, you will be part of a dynamic care team, collaborating with various providers, MAs, RNs, and administrative staff.
  • At Saint Alphonsus, we adopt a comprehensive and individualized approach to each patient's treatment, recognizing that chronic wounds often come with complications. We partner with our patients to identify, manage, and treat underlying medical issues, promoting faster and more complete healing.
  • We assist patients with wounds and those experiencing poor circulation due to conditions such as diabetes, severe burns, or peripheral vascular disease, as even minor injuries can lead to serious infections requiring advanced wound care interventions.
  • The Saint Alphonsus Advanced Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine program also offers Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for patients with non-healing or complex wounds and other conditions that benefit from pressurized oxygen treatment. Our program utilizes advanced Sechrist Monoplace Hyperbaric Chambers.
  • At Saint Alphonsus, we focus on treating the whole individual with a tailored plan that significantly accelerates wound healing.
Responsibilities:
  • Engage in wound care for those eager to learn, performing hands-on tasks and assisting providers during patient appointments.
  • This role will not involve vaccinations, injections, or extensive phlebotomy at this time.
  • Be prepared to encounter various types of wounds, which may be challenging in appearance and odor.
  • An ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to learn, thrive in a collaborative team environment, and demonstrate reliability.
Work Schedule:
  • 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • This position will primarily be based in Nampa, with occasional coverage at other locations.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • *MA certification must be obtained within 90 days of eligibility to take a national certification exam from one of the approved agencies.
  • Completion of either 6 months of MA experience or a 100-hour MA externship is required, even with MA certification.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from recognized organizations is required at hire.
  • *Obtaining the MA certification typically necessitates completing an MA Program or having at least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant. EMT or CNA certifications do not count towards MA certification.
