Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Water Jet Operator to join our team at Precision Castparts Corp. in North Hollywood, California. As a Water Jet Operator, you will be responsible for operating water jet machinery to cut and shape various materials for aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate water jet machinery to cut and shape materials according to work instructions and cut programs.
  • Safely load and unload materials using a crane, ensuring proper placement and alignment.
  • Secure workpieces using clamps, shims, or other appropriate methods to maintain accuracy during cutting.
  • Fill and maintain the media hopper with the required abrasive material as per the job specifications.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using basic inspection hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Apply basic shop math and interpret engineering drawings or blueprints for the correct setup and execution of tasks.
  • Identify and address basic operational issues and perform intermediate troubleshooting based on an understanding of cut programs, flow rates, and media requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance on water jet equipment, including the pump, head, and fluids, to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Execute basic programming tasks for the water jet machine to achieve desired cutting results.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in water jet operation.
  • Machinist certificate is a plus.
  • Previous experience with machine maintenance and programming is a plus.
