Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: This role is essential for providing electrical upkeep across campus facilities. The technician will also support general maintenance tasks as directed by management and serve as the primary maintenance contact in the absence of the Director of Buildings & Grounds.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts routine electrical maintenance for all campus buildings, including repair and upkeep of electrical systems, lighting, power outlets, and HVAC equipment. Responsible for the installation of new electrical circuits and appliances.
  • Oversees the daily operation of heating and cooling systems in all campus facilities, ensuring functionality of automated systems, including boilers and mini-split systems.
  • Performs general maintenance tasks such as moving furniture, setting up for events, conducting building checks during holidays, and being available for on-call duties. Engages in preventative maintenance activities, including greasing machinery, changing filters, and replacing light bulbs. Participates in required training sessions.
  • Acts as the lead technician and substitutes for the Director of Buildings & Grounds when necessary.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and installation of communication systems, including telephone and data networks.
  • Completes additional job-related tasks as assigned.

PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the college's evolving electrical requirements.
  • Responds effectively to emergency situations with a foundational understanding of various maintenance trades.
  • Collaborates well with team members on special projects and events.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five to seven years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Possession of a two-year college degree, completion of a specialized training program, or extensive in-house training.
  • Ability to interact with individuals beyond immediate colleagues, providing courteous assistance and information.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in electrical work; general maintenance experience is preferred. Strong communication skills are essential. Must be capable of working in various weather conditions and lifting heavy objects. The role may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and noise levels.

COMPENSATION: Grade 12 (Minimum Hourly $21.99)
