Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Coordinator to join our team at WellSpan Health. As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration and admission process for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and verify patient demographic and financial information for accurate registration and billing purposes.
  • Interview patients to gather necessary information for admission or registration, ensuring accurate and complete data.
  • Explain financial requirements to patients or responsible parties and collect deposits or deductibles as required.
  • Work with patients to investigate overpayments, research outstanding accounts, and provide information on resource funding.
  • Reconcile daily cash and verify account balances to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Compile and distribute patient information regarding personal, insurance, and financial status to billing and other departments.
  • Participate in department and office projects, providing proactive recommendations for updating resources and reference materials.
  • Train new staff and provide ongoing support and instruction to ensure independence in role.
  • Actively support process flow improvement and provide constructive feedback to supervisors.
  • Resolve patient complaints in the absence of a supervisor, demonstrating good judgment and decision-making skills.

Requirements:

  • Less than 1 year of experience in an Access Operations Department.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
