Patient Access Coordinator

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Coordinator to join our team at WellSpan Health. As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration and admission process for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and verify patient demographic and financial information for accurate registration and billing purposes.
- Interview patients to gather necessary information for admission or registration, ensuring accurate and complete data.
- Explain financial requirements to patients or responsible parties and collect deposits or deductibles as required.
- Work with patients to investigate overpayments, research outstanding accounts, and provide information on resource funding.
- Reconcile daily cash and verify account balances to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Compile and distribute patient information regarding personal, insurance, and financial status to billing and other departments.
- Participate in department and office projects, providing proactive recommendations for updating resources and reference materials.
- Train new staff and provide ongoing support and instruction to ensure independence in role.
- Actively support process flow improvement and provide constructive feedback to supervisors.
- Resolve patient complaints in the absence of a supervisor, demonstrating good judgment and decision-making skills.
Requirements:
- Less than 1 year of experience in an Access Operations Department.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
