About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to join our team at the Mayo Civic Center. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the overall management and operations of the venue, including live entertainment booking, event production, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain active contact with clients and ensure compliance with all provisions of the management agreement.
  • Assist in promoting the use of the facility to maximize its utilization.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, tenants, government departments, and community organizations.
  • Function as the "booker" for live entertainment events, negotiating contracts and agreements with promoters and organizers.
  • Work cooperatively with the VP of Sales to promote, sell, and contract non-live entertainment events.
  • Assure the coordination, implementation, and administration of specific plans and programs prescribed by corporate directives.
  • Develop and implement facility goals in accordance with the management contract and good business practice.
  • Prepare and maintain required reports and records for clients and corporate.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in a senior management level position.
  • Experience in labor relations and union contracts is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, organizational ability, and professional attitude.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain a cooperative environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of event solicitation, public relations, advertising, media relations, and event planning.
  • Considerable knowledge of safety regulations and facility operating standards.
  • Strong orientation towards hospitality and customer service.
