Midwife Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate midwife to join our team at Providence Women's Healthcare. As a midwife, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide prenatal and postnatal education to patients
  • Examine patients during pregnancy and assist with creating birth plans
  • Ensure the health and well-being of newborns and mothers during delivery
  • Perform gynecological exams and educate patients on health and nutrition
  • Counsel expectant mothers on birthing options and provide emotional support during birth
  • Arrange prenatal planning and care for mothers
  • Prepare for birthing by following health and safety standards
  • Coach mothers through the birthing process and perform deliveries
  • Assist surgeons and physicians in caring for mothers during complicated births
  • Provide postpartum care and monitor patient vital signs and fetal heart rate during birth
  • Study patient history and health assessments
  • Communicate stages of birth to family members and explain breastfeeding techniques
  • Monitor patient postpartum and be available for questions or concerns
Requirements:
  • Master's degree from an accredited School of Nursing and Midwifery and certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board
  • Current CPR and NRP certification
  • Fetal Monitoring course within the last 2 years
  • Registered as a nurse in the state of Georgia
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Compassionate and caring of patients
  • Able to work in an intense, concentrated environment
  • Calm and cool-headed with a positive attitude
  • Able to work nights, weekends, extended hours, and holidays
  • Good leadership skills; able to mentor and educate

We offer a wide range of services in gynecology care, obstetrics care, and midwifery care, including ultrasounds, family planning, gynecology surgery, wellness, and even telemedicine. Our providers are female gynecologist specialists and OB specialists, and our midwives are certified nurse midwives. We are women caring for women, and we take care of everything, from first pregnancies to OB-GYN-related health questions, water birth, and breast screenings.
