Midwife Opportunity at Providence Women's Healthcare

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate midwife to join our team at Providence Women's Healthcare. Our healthcare organization provides gynecology and obstetrics services in three locations, and we are committed to delivering high-quality care to our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide physical, mental, and emotional care to patients during delivery
  • Offer prenatal and postnatal education to patients
  • Examine patients during pregnancy and assist in creating birth plans
  • Ensure the health and well-being of newborns and mothers during delivery
  • Perform gynecological exams, educate patients on health and nutrition, and counsel expectant mothers on birthing plans
  • Provide emotional care for mothers during birth and arrange prenatal planning and care
  • Prepare for birthing by following health and safety standards and coach mothers through the birthing process
  • Perform deliveries and assist caesareans, tend to the health and well-being of both the baby and mother during the process
  • Assist surgeons and physicians in caring for the mother during complicated births and provide care for mothers after birth
  • Monitor patient vital signs and fetal heart rate during birth and study patient history and health assessments
  • Communicate stages of birth to family members, explain and demonstrate breastfeeding techniques, and monitor patient postpartum
  • Participate in research and further educational opportunities and perform CPR, NRP, or other emergency measures if needed
Requirements:
  • Master's degree from an accredited School of Nursing and Midwifery and certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board
  • Current CPR & NRP certification and fetal monitoring course within the last 2 years
  • Registered as a nurse in the state of Georgia and ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, compassionate and caring of patients, and able to work in an intense, concentrated environment
  • Calm and cool-headed with a positive attitude, able to work nights, weekends, extended hours, and holidays, and good leadership skills
