Qualifications:
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a skilled nursing facility with billing responsibilities for Medicare, Medicaid, and HMO.
Education:
A high-school diploma or its equivalent is required.
Must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
Must demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to interact tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
Typing speed of 45 words per minute and proficiency in using a 10-key calculator is required. Must be able to work collaboratively with other personnel.
Must be capable of planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and interpreting the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary for effective accounting practices.
Must be able to comprehend and execute written and oral instructions.Must exhibit patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to engage with residents, staff, and visitors at their respective maturity levels.
Must be open to exploring new methods and principles and willing to integrate them into existing accounting practices.
Proficiency in computers, data entry/retrieval, and output is essential.Must have the ability to examine and verify financial documents and reports, and prepare financial and other records in a systematic, neat, and legible manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in establishing and maintaining an adequate accounting system that accurately reflects the operating costs of the facility, including resident accounts, census, insurances, and insurance coverage.
- Verify voucher reports, remittance advices, checks, and journals for accuracy.
- Monthly billing of Medicaid, HMOs, and other insurances.
- Communicate with suppliers/vendors, monitor, and collect accounts receivables, including daily and weekly follow-ups.
- Record, post, and process daily charge slips and payments received, balancing to resident accounts; reconcile accounts at the end of the month.
