Continuous Improvement Coordinator

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The Continuous Improvement Coordinator plays a pivotal role in steering and supporting the Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives at our site. This position advocates for transformation by serving as a resource for Lean methodologies and provides leadership and direction for site-wide continuous improvement efforts, including Kaizen and Blackbelt activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement Lean terminology and methodologies effectively.
  • Oversee the execution of the Continuous Improvement program.
  • Lead and participate in site Kaizen and Blackbelt events.
  • Collaborate with various departments to achieve goals set during Kaizen events or those that promote continuous improvement.
  • Generate analytical reports and assess data from multiple databases to identify Kaizen opportunities.
  • Coordinate diverse action items to maintain improvements established during Kaizen events.
  • Conduct root cause analysis either individually or by facilitating team activities.
  • Guide the Environmental Health and Safety Technician to ensure the implementation of safety initiatives and programs.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of all safety documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Draft routine reports and correspondence.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals and groups within the organization.
  • Possess a pleasant demeanor, professionalism, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.
YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • A college degree in business or a related field with a preference for Lean certification. A minimum of two years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in supervision, Lean methodologies, and ISO standards is advantageous, with a preference for the plastics industry.
  • Additional qualifications in quality, safety, mechanical, or electrical disciplines are preferred.
  • Preferred certifications include Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, ASQ Quality Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, etc.
  • Experience with plastic extrusion and/or injection molding is desirable.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with frequent interaction with people.
  • Comfortable working within a manufacturing setting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting are required.
    • Regular use of hands for tasks such as handling machinery.
    • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
    • Visual acuity is necessary.
