Position Overview

About the Role

The Senior Technician III in Instrumentation and Controls is responsible for executing both corrective and preventive calibrations on manufacturing and laboratory analytical instruments with minimal oversight. This role involves assisting manufacturing and laboratory teams in the operation, upkeep, and repair of on-site instrumentation and testing apparatus. Additionally, the technician supports validation and engineering initiatives as needed. The role may require the creation of modifications to procedures and job plans when necessary, along with providing technical mentorship to junior staff members. Backup support to the Supervisor may also be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled calibration tasks
  • Address unscheduled corrective calibrations and repairs
  • Install new instrumentation systems
  • Offer engineering and validation assistance
  • Draft revisions to procedures, job plans, and safety documentation
  • Guide junior staff in completing scheduled and corrective calibration tasks
  • Coordinate with planners to arrange maintenance activities

Qualifications

This position may require occasional climbing, navigating tight spaces, and lifting test equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Additionally, the ability to stand for extended periods is necessary.

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 7 years of direct GMP experience, or
  • Relevant Military experience (preferably in electronics) and/or ISA Certification with 5 years of pertinent experience, or
  • Associate's Degree in Instrumentation & Controls or Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation & Controls or Engineering with 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in a GMP-regulated environment is preferred
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving instrumentation and control challenges
  • Familiarity with equipment used in the biotech/pharmaceutical sector is advantageous
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems is beneficial
