Position Overview

About the Role

The Senior Instrumentation Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of manufacturing and laboratory analytical instruments. This position involves executing both corrective and preventative calibrations with minimal oversight. The technician will assist manufacturing and laboratory teams in the effective use, upkeep, and repair of on-site instruments and testing equipment. Additionally, this role supports validation and engineering initiatives as needed, contributes to procedural updates, and provides mentorship to junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine calibration tasks
  • Address unscheduled repairs and corrective calibrations
  • Install and configure new instrumentation
  • Offer engineering and validation assistance
  • Revise procedures, job plans, and safety documentation
  • Guide junior staff in performing scheduled and corrective calibrations
  • Coordinate with planners to organize maintenance schedules

Qualifications

This role requires the ability to navigate ladders, access confined spaces, and lift test equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Additionally, working in controlled environments necessitates proper gowning. Standing for extended periods is also a requirement.

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 7 years of direct experience in GMP settings, or
  • Military experience in electronics and/or ISA Certification with 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • Associate's Degree in Instrumentation & Controls or Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation & Controls or Engineering with 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in a highly regulated GMP environment is preferred
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting instrumentation and control challenges
  • Familiarity with equipment in the biotech/pharmaceutical sector is advantageous
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems is beneficial
