About This Position

The Senior Automation Specialist plays a crucial role in providing technical expertise to a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This position focuses on the design and execution of automation strategies, the integration of control systems, adherence to regulatory requirements, and the promotion of continuous enhancement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • System Design and Execution
    • Define, design, and implement process control and automation strategies.
    • Collaborate with various teams to create control system specifications.
    • Program SCADA, PLC, and HMI systems effectively.
  • Instrumentation and Control System Integration
    • Select appropriate instrumentation for process oversight and control.
    • Integrate control systems and resolve any arising issues.
  • Validation and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure automation systems meet regulatory standards.
    • Engage in validation processes and maintain comprehensive documentation.
    • Offer technical support for quality assurance systems.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives
    • Identify areas for optimization and implement necessary changes.
    • Keep abreast of industry advancements and suggest enhancements.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance
    • Diagnose and rectify automation system challenges.
    • Establish preventive maintenance protocols.
    • Provide on-call support as required.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Engage with cross-functional teams and deliver training sessions.
  • Project Management
    • Oversee automation projects from initiation to completion.
    • Prepare project budgets and monitor expenditures.
    • Develop standards for control systems and instrumentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 4-6 years of experience in process control and automation.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell PLCs, Wonderware System Platform, SQL databases, and similar technologies.
  • Understanding of validation methodologies and documentation practices.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
