POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for accurate insurance verification, coding, collection of patient financial responsibilities, and cashiering duties for patients.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of one year experience in a hospital or clinic registration environment
- Basic understanding of medical terminology is preferred
- Proficient computer skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
SUPERVISORY STRUCTURE
Supervision Received:
Reports directly to the Registration Manager.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
Regular interaction with patients, third-party payers, various departments, and other stakeholders to exchange information. Adjusts communication style to accommodate the developmental and educational needs of each patient.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (* indicates essential functions)
- Exemplifies the Customer Service Values of the organization, which are crucial for delivering high-quality service to patients and clients.
* Reviews patient financial data promptly and accurately prior to admission when feasible, and within one business day for unscheduled admissions.
Identifies and confirms liable third parties.3. * Collects patient liabilities and arranges payment plans in accordance with established policies.
4. * Engages with third-party carriers to ascertain pre-certification or payment prerequisites and ensures compliance.
5. * Manages follow-up for pending Medicaid patients and out-of-state cases with vendors.
6. * Addresses inquiries from walk-in clients regarding outstanding billing and collection matters.
7. * Executes cashiering responsibilities.
8. * Safeguards and returns valuables from storage.
