Key Responsibilities- Provide first aid care and medically prescribed services to students
- Maintain the security of school health supplies and medication
- Conduct follow-up evaluations on students as required
- Communicate with parents on health needs of children
- Record immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data
- Identify abnormal growth and development, symptoms of disease, and discuss with parents
- Develop and maintain health records on students
- Build positive working relationships with students, parents, and school staff
- Support student medical needs during transport as applicable
- Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nurse practices
- Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
- One year prior professional nursing experience in a school setting preferred
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Current BLS card
- Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
- Considerable knowledge of child growth and development
- Some knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies
- Some knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
- Understanding of the school organization and the community served
- Ability to effectively communicate with individuals, including supervisors, coworkers, clients, via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
- Computer proficiency preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
