Specialty and Emerging Crops Program Manager

The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Division of Extension is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Manager to lead the Specialty and Emerging Crops Program. This exciting new position will provide leadership and programming to Wisconsin's fruit, vegetable, and emerging crop growers within Extension's Crops and Soils Program.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic direction and leadership for teams of faculty and staff conducting fruit, vegetable, and emerging crops-related programming.
- Mentor, support, and supervise educators and outreach specialists in the Agriculture Institute engaged in programming related to fruit, vegetable, and emerging crops production.
- Collaborate with Extension colleagues, industry, and stakeholders to identify needs and develop high-quality outreach education programs addressing critical issues facing commercial fruit and vegetable producers in Wisconsin.
- Build connections between faculty and staff in the Extension Crops and Soils Program and Horticulture Program to serve the needs of consumer fruit and vegetable producers.
- Develop and maintain expertise and deliver programming related to vegetable production systems.
- Build trust-based relationships with stakeholders.
- Master's degree in a field related to the position's focus.
- Five or more years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience with mentoring and/or supervising.
- Demonstrated educational program development skills, including planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating program impact and value to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, through various technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal relationship and problem-solving skills in a team setting.
- Demonstrated experience with building diverse, collaborative partnerships.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to write grants and establish partnerships that pool or leverage public and private funds in support of the institutional mission.
