Role Summary: The Roll-Off Driver is tasked with servicing designated customer accounts throughout the day. This role involves the collection and transportation of waste or recycling materials to designated disposal sites or recycling facilities as instructed by dispatch.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Operations Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver, replace, and remove roll-off containers and compactors for clients, ensuring materials are dumped at appropriate disposal or recycling locations.
  • Execute work assignments safely and efficiently to minimize damage and accidents.
  • Operate the vehicle in compliance with Lakeshore Waste Services safety protocols, OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle, documenting findings using the standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
  • Promptly report any unsafe conditions or service-related issues to the Route Manager or Dispatch.
  • Participate in all scheduled training sessions, briefings, and meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with the Route Manager to enhance route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Inform the Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Notify Dispatch or the Route Manager of service interruptions, including blocked containers or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicate customer requests effectively to Dispatch or the Route Manager.
  • Maintain and update driver log sheets throughout the workday.
  • Engage professionally with customers.
  • Keep the commercial vehicle clean and free of debris.
  • Follow route assignments as directed and complete end-of-day documentation and checkout processes.
  • Perform all duties as scheduled by the Route Manager or Dispatch, assisting other drivers as needed to meet customer requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Possession of a valid Class B CDL.
  • Valid DOT medical card required or to be obtained prior to hire.
  • No DUI or OVI offenses within the last 5 years, or 2 in the last 10 years.
  • No license suspensions within the last 2 years.
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment testing is mandatory.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, including understanding directions, traffic signs, and safety training.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed under moderate supervision.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 110 pounds.
  • Frequent walking and standing for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Physical capability to enter, climb, and exit the truck cab frequently.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating vehicle controls.
