The Patient Transport Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the secure and efficient transportation of patients and residents within the healthcare system. This position involves escorting individuals to various medical appointments and legal obligations, while adhering to strict safety protocols and documentation requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the safe and timely transport of patients and residents to medical appointments and other necessary engagements.
- Adhere to established protocols to prevent unauthorized departures and monitor patient safety during transport.
- Conduct thorough inspections of transportation vehicles and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Document all transportation activities and any incidents using the appropriate reporting systems.
- Assist in the retrieval of patients who require return to the facility due to changes in their condition.
- Provide observational support in patient units during transportation downtimes.
- Deliver essential supplies and transport laboratory specimens as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned that relate to the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Understanding of mental health principles and patient rights.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations and communication technologies.
- Familiarity with motor vehicle laws and emergency procedures.
- Ability to conduct physical assessments and implement safety protocols.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to adapt to changing patient needs and respond effectively in emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a transportation or safety role, particularly within a healthcare or security environment, is highly desirable. A combination of relevant training and experience that aligns with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will also be considered.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Compliance with fingerprint clearance requirements as mandated.
