Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION team as a Medical Support Assistant (Advanced). As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing administrative support to our medical staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our clinics and facilities.

About the Role

The Medical Support Assistant (Advanced) is responsible for providing advanced administrative support to the medical staff, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating with other departments. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

Responsibilities

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing advanced administrative support to the medical staff, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Managing patient systems to verify and validate accuracy and resolve issues.
  • Enters appropriate information into the electronic record.
  • Monitors pre-appointment information and/or requirements to assure readiness for patient visit/procedure.
  • Evaluates patient information and clinic schedule lists to determine whether the patient requires an immediate appointment.
  • Informs team members about shared patients (i.e., those who receive their care at multiple VA centers or those who receive care in the community).


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records and scheduling systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
