About the Diesel Mechanic PositionAs a Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
- Diagnosing and performing all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
- Ensuring work orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Providing mobile emergency services as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A valid driver's license and willingness to obtain a CDL while employed.
- At least one year of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
- A mechanic's tool set and willingness to participate in ASE certification programs.
- Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee.
