About the Diesel Mechanic Position

As a Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnosing and performing all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
  • Ensuring work orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Providing mobile emergency services as needed.
Requirements for the Diesel Mechanic Position

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid driver's license and willingness to obtain a CDL while employed.
  • At least one year of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
  • A mechanic's tool set and willingness to participate in ASE certification programs.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee.
