Fox Valley Technical College is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to teach General Biology. As a dynamic partner for students and the College, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, promoting student success, and modeling the College's core values.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement instructional strategies, including alternative delivery methods when appropriate
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students, including assignments, tests, grades, and career concerns
  • Design and administer skills assessments to evaluate student performance
  • Promote student success through timely communication, growth-based feedback, and implementation of strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, and grading
  • Maintain professional currency and contribute to a collaborative culture across the College
  • Attend division, department, and advisory committee meetings as requested
  • Participate in staff development activities, such as diversity awareness and technology training
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the College's mission, vision, and values
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in the discipline or subfield of biology
  • Experience in delivering instruction by alternative methods, such as online or synchronous/asynchronous modality
  • Familiarity with computer applications, particularly Blackboard, Collaborate, Microsoft Office, and Teams
  • Ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery
  • Skilled in communications and human relations with diverse populations
Working Conditions
  • Adjunct instructors are hired on a per-course basis, with a range of 3-8 hours per week
  • Courses are taught in traditional classrooms and alternative delivery formats
  • New adjunct faculty are required to complete a mandatory, non-compensated Blackboard Basics & Orientation for Adjunct Instructors course within 30 days
