Natural Resources Adjunct Instructor Job Description

Fox Valley Technical College is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to teach in our Natural Resources program. As an adjunct faculty member, you will play a vital role in ensuring student success and modeling the college's core values.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing instructional strategies, including alternative delivery methods when appropriate. You will also assist and advise students with academic matters, research and develop skills assessments, and promote student success through timely communication and growth-based feedback.

Essential Job Functions

  • Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, and grading.
  • Meet professional expectations by maintaining professional currency and contributing to a collaborative culture.
  • Attend division, department, and advisory committee meetings as requested.
  • Participate in staff development activities, such as diversity awareness and technology training.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the college's mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications, Training, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of occupational experience in a target job for the program or programs being taught.
  • 5 years of occupational experience preferred.
  • Prior teaching or training experience helpful.
  • Qualified per FVTC requirements at time of, and throughout employment as an instructor.

  • Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies.
  • Skilled in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
  • Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
  • Skilled in communications and human relations with diverse populations.
  • Skilled in oral and written communications.
  • Ability to effectively interact with business and industry to establish partnerships and address needs.
Additional Information

Hourly pay rate: $45.00 per hour. Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data.

Adjunct instructors are hired on a per-course basis. The total hours for an adjunct instructor range from approximately 3 hours per week to no more than 8 hours per week. Hours vary and can include both day, evening, and weekend classes.

Upon hire, new adjunct faculty are required to complete the mandatory, non-compensated Blackboard Basics & Orientation for Adjunct Instructors course within 30 days. Additional training is also required to qualify to teach in the Wisconsin Technical College System within the first three years of hire.
