Job Description

Proof of the Pudding is an award-winning catering company that provides food service to Georgia Tech's athletic events, special events, and student athletes. We are seeking a Steward to join our team at Georgia Tech.

The Steward will be responsible for maintaining a clean kitchen, properly washing and sorting soiled dishes, and prepping foods as needed. They will also set up dish stations, maintain clean and dry floors, and assist in the timely storing of food deliveries.

The ideal candidate will have 1+ year of experience working in a kitchen or as a steward, and possess excellent customer service skills. They will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and carrying equipment and food items.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean kitchen and dish area
  • Properly wash and sort soiled dishes
  • Prep foods as needed
  • Set up dish stations
  • Maintain clean and dry floors
  • Assist in the timely storing of food deliveries
  • Help deliver food to suites on gamedays
  • Pre-bussing and assist in the cleanup of suite areas and kitchen/pantries
  • Maintain trash cans throughout shift and remove full trashcans and boxes at the end of each shift
  • Maintain the dry storage area and the organization of storage shelves
  • Assist with maintaining and organizing China and warehouse
  • Follows the posted daily dish cleaning duties
  • Assists in food prep and any other duties set forth or requested by the chef as needed
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be within or near Auburn, AL
  • 1+ year of experience working in a kitchen or as a steward is preferred
  • ServSafe Certified preferred
Work Environment

The work environment for this position will be event operations and working out of the Football Stadium or similar venues. This position will spend majority of time in the kitchen and dish pit area where there will be hot water, chemicals, and typical kitchen equipment and utensils.

Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods of moving through kitchen, coolers, and storage spaces
  • Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as but not limited to lifting up-to 30 pounds at times
  • Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives
  • Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment
